Why Does Your Legacy Matter More After 50?
Your Legacy Isn't Just What You Leave Behind When You're Gone. It's What You're Building in People While You're Still Here.
By Coach Marcus Jones
At some point after:
50...
you begin looking at success:
Differently.
When you're younger, success may be measured by:
Income.
Career.
House.
Car.
Title.
Promotions.
Business growth.
Recognition.
Nothing is necessarily wrong with any of:
That.
We need money.
We need goals.
We should build.
We should achieve.
We should create opportunities for our:
Families.
But eventually another question starts becoming more:
Important.
“WHAT AM I LEAVING BEHIND?”
Not simply:
Money.
Not simply:
Property.
Not simply:
Possessions.
I'm talking about:
Impact.
Character.
Wisdom.
Faith.
Values.
Relationships.
Lessons.
People you've:
Helped.
People you've:
Encouraged.
People you've:
Mentored.
People who became better because your life crossed paths with:
Theirs.
That's:
Legacy.
And here's something I've been thinking about more as I've gotten:
Older.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOU DIE TO LEAVE A LEGACY.
You're creating one:
Right now.
Every:
Day.
Through how you:
Live.
Lead.
Treat people.
Handle adversity.
Use money.
Serve others.
Love your family.
Practice your faith.
And respond when nobody is:
Watching.
The question isn't whether you'll leave a:
Legacy.
You will.
The question is:
WHAT KIND OF LEGACY ARE YOU BUILDING?
IN THIS ARTICLE
What legacy actually means
Why legacy becomes more important after 50
Why legacy isn't only about money
How your faith becomes part of your legacy

Why your story has value
How your mistakes can become lessons for others
Why mentoring matters
How serving your community creates impact
Why financial stewardship belongs in the legacy conversation
How generosity can outlive you
Why your health can influence your legacy
How business leadership affects people
Why your reputation and legacy aren't exactly the same
How to create a living legacy
Why it's never too late to change what you're leaving behind
How to write your personal legacy statement
QUICK ANSWER: WHY DOES YOUR LEGACY MATTER MORE AFTER 50?
Because time begins to feel more:
Valuable.
You begin realizing that life isn't only about what you:
Acquire.
It's also about what you:
Transfer.
Your:
Faith.
Wisdom.
Values.
Experience.
Resources.
Stories.
Lessons.
Opportunities.
Encouragement.
THE FIRST HALF OF LIFE MAY BE ABOUT BUILDING YOURSELF.
THE SECOND HALF CAN BECOME ABOUT BUILDING OTHERS.
That doesn't mean you stop pursuing your own:
Dreams.
It means your dreams can become:
Bigger.
They can begin including the people coming:
Behind you.
LEGACY ISN'T ONLY WHAT PEOPLE SAY AT YOUR FUNERAL
That's where many people get this:
Wrong.
Legacy isn't something that suddenly appears when you:
Die.
You're building it while you:
Live.
YOUR LEGACY IS BEING WRITTEN IN REAL TIME
It's being written in:
Your children.
Your grandchildren.
Your spouse.
Your friends.
Your employees.
Your business partners.
Your team.
Your community.
The people you:
Mentor.
The people you:
Serve.
EVERY INTERACTION LEAVES SOMETHING
Sometimes:
Encouragement.
Sometimes:
Wisdom.
Sometimes:
Confidence.
Sometimes:
Opportunity.
And unfortunately...
sometimes:
Pain.
That's why how we live:
Matters.
LEGACY IS BIGGER THAN MONEY
When people hear:
Legacy...
they often immediately think:
Inheritance.
Life insurance.
Investments.
Property.
A business.
Those things:
Matter.
Financial preparation can absolutely be part of responsible:
Stewardship.
But money is only one piece of:
Legacy.
YOU CAN LEAVE SOMEBODY MONEY AND STILL FAIL TO LEAVE THEM WISDOM
Think about that.
What good is leaving the next generation:
Resources...
if nobody taught them how to manage those:
Resources?
DON'T ONLY TRANSFER ASSETS.
TRANSFER UNDERSTANDING.
Teach them:
Budgeting.
Saving.
Investing.
Giving.
Business.
Ownership.
Taxes.
Credit.
Avoiding unnecessary debt.
MONEY WITHOUT WISDOM CAN DISAPPEAR QUICKLY
Financial education can become part of your:
Legacy.
YOUR FAITH MAY BE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU PASS DOWN
As a believer...
this matters deeply to:
Me.
I want people to know more than what I:
Accomplished.
I want them to know what I:
Believed.
Who I trusted.
Who gave my life:
Purpose.
PSALM 78:4 POINTS TOWARD TELLING THE NEXT GENERATION ABOUT GOD'S WORKS
That passage reflects something powerful:
Faith can be:
Transferred.
Not automatically.
Not by:
Force.
But through:
Teaching.
Example.
Conversation.
And how you:
Live. Bible Gateway
YOUR FAMILY SHOULD SEE YOUR FAITH — NOT ONLY HEAR ABOUT IT
They should see how you:
Pray.
Forgive.
Serve.
Give.
Treat people.
Handle disappointment.
Respond when things don't go your:
Way.
YOUR LIFE MAY TEACH MORE THAN YOUR WORDS
Anybody can talk about:
Faith.
Living it is:
Different.
DON'T JUST TELL THE NEXT GENERATION ABOUT GOD.
SHOW THEM WHAT FAITH LOOKS LIKE IN REAL LIFE.
That's legacy.
CHARACTER MAY OUTLIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Think about the people you've known who are no longer:
Here.
Do you remember every award they:
Won?
Every promotion?
Every paycheck?
Probably:
Not.
But you may remember:
How they treated you.
How they made you:
Feel.
What they:
Taught you.
How they showed:
Up.
PEOPLE MAY FORGET YOUR TITLE.
THEY'LL REMEMBER YOUR CHARACTER.
That's worth thinking about.
WHAT DO PEOPLE EXPERIENCE WHEN THEY EXPERIENCE YOU?
Do they experience:
Integrity?
Patience?
Encouragement?
Generosity?
Honesty?
Service?
Or:
Ego?
Negativity?
Selfishness?
Drama?
YOUR CHARACTER IS PART OF YOUR LEGACY
Especially when nobody can do anything for:
You.
How you treat people who have nothing to offer you says a lot about who you:
Are.
YOUR STORY HAS VALUE
Maybe you think:
“I'm just an ordinary person.”
Good.
Most people are.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FAMOUS TO HAVE A POWERFUL STORY
You've lived through:
Success.
Failure.
Heartbreak.
Mistakes.
Career changes.
Financial challenges.
Family experiences.
Health challenges.
Business lessons.
SOMEBODY CAN LEARN FROM WHAT YOU SURVIVED
Don't underestimate:
That.
YOUR MISTAKES CAN BECOME PART OF YOUR LEGACY TOO
Legacy doesn't require a perfect:
Past.
That's good news.
Because none of us has:
One.
SOMETIMES YOUR BIGGEST MISTAKES PRODUCE YOUR MOST VALUABLE LESSONS
Maybe you:
Spent too much.
Trusted the wrong person.
Stayed somewhere too long.
Quit too soon.
Ignored your health.
Made a bad investment.
Started saving too late.
DON'T JUST REGRET IT.
TEACH IT.
Tell somebody:
“Here's what happened.”
“Here's what I learned.”
“Here's what I would do differently.”
TURN YOUR MISTAKES INTO SOMEBODY ELSE'S WISDOM
That's one way pain becomes:
Purpose.
YOU DON'T NEED TO HIDE EVERY FAILURE
Obviously, not everything needs to become:
Public.
Some things are:
Private.
But appropriate vulnerability can help:
Others.
SOMEBODY NEEDS TO KNOW YOU DIDN'T GET EVERYTHING RIGHT
They need to know:
You struggled.
You learned.
You adjusted.
You kept:
Going.
THAT'S A REAL LEGACY
Not perfection.
Growth.
MENTOR SOMEBODY
After 50...
you've accumulated something younger people can't buy:
Experience.
You know things because you:
Lived them.
DON'T TAKE ALL THAT KNOWLEDGE WITH YOU
Teach somebody.
Maybe:
Your child.
Grandchild.
Team member.
Young entrepreneur.
Coworker.
Neighbor.
EXPERIENCE BECOMES MORE VALUABLE WHEN IT'S SHARED
Otherwise...
it ends with:
You.
ASK YOURSELF:
“WHO AM I DEVELOPING?”
That's a powerful leadership:
Question.
Because leadership isn't only about how far you:
Go.
It's about who becomes better because you:
Led.
THE BEST LEADERS CREATE MORE LEADERS
They don't create people who cannot function without:
Them.
They teach people how to:
Think.
Decide.
Lead.
Serve.
IF EVERYTHING FALLS APART WHEN YOU LEAVE...
YOU DIDN'T BUILD A:
LEGACY.
You built a:
Dependency.
There's a difference.
TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO DO WHAT YOU DO
That's how impact:
Multiplies.
YOUR FAMILY IS PART OF YOUR LEGACY
Sometimes we become so focused on:
Business.
Money.
Success.
Helping everybody else.
That the people closest to us get what's:
Left.
DON'T BUILD A PUBLIC LEGACY AND NEGLECT A PRIVATE ONE
That's important.
Your family doesn't need only your:
Money.
They need your:
Presence.
Attention.
Love.
Wisdom.
Time.
BE THERE.
Not just financially.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
Relationally.
CREATE MEMORIES WHILE YOU STILL CAN
Take the:
Trip.
Have the:
Dinner.
Make the:
Call.
Take the:
Picture.
Tell the:
Story.
DON'T WAIT FOR “SOMEDAY”
Eventually...
someday becomes:
Yesterday.
ASK YOUR FAMILY QUESTIONS
What do they:
Dream about?
What are they:
Struggling with?
What do they want to:
Learn?
DON'T ASSUME YOU KNOW PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE KNOWN THEM A LONG TIME
People:
Change.
Your relationship needs to keep:
Growing.
YOUR VALUES ARE TAUGHT THROUGH REPETITION
If you want the next generation to value:
Faith.
Health.
Work ethic.
Integrity.
Generosity.
Family.
Financial responsibility.
Then let them see those values in:
Action.
VALUES ARE CAUGHT AS MUCH AS THEY ARE TAUGHT
Your example:
Matters.
SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY
Legacy can extend beyond:
Family.
The National Institute on Aging notes that meaningful and productive activities—such as volunteering, hobbies and time with others—can support well-being as people age. NIA also connects volunteering and meaningful engagement with a sense of purpose and social connection. NIA
That's another reason service can become so meaningful after:
YOU STILL HAVE SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE
Volunteer.
Mentor.
Coach.
Teach.
Serve at:
Church.
Help a:
Neighbor.
Support a local:
Cause.
YOU DON'T NEED A MILLION FOLLOWERS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Sometimes impact looks like:
One family.
One neighborhood.
One church.
One team.
One person.
ONE LIFE CHANGED IS STILL IMPACT
Never forget:
That.
YOUR HEALTH IS PART OF YOUR LEGACY TOO
Not because everyone can control every health:
Outcome.
We can't.
Genetics matter.
Medical conditions happen.
Life happens.
BUT YOUR HABITS CAN BECOME PART OF THE EXAMPLE YOU LEAVE
Your children may watch how you:
Eat.
Exercise.
Manage stress.
Prioritize sleep.
Attend medical appointments.
Respond to health challenges.
TEACH HEALTH BY LIVING HEALTH
Not:
Perfection.
Consistency.
SHOW PEOPLE THAT GETTING OLDER DOESN'T MEAN GIVING UP
Stay:
Active.
Curious.
Engaged.
Purposeful.
YOUR LIFE CAN BECOME EVIDENCE THAT AGING AND GROWTH CAN EXIST TOGETHER
That's powerful.
YOUR BUSINESS CAN BECOME PART OF YOUR LEGACY
Not because of the:
Company.
Not because of the:
Compensation plan.
Not because of the:
Rank.
Because of the:
People.
HOW DID YOU LEAD?
Did you:
Develop people?
Serve people?
Encourage people?
Teach people?
Celebrate people?
OR DID EVERYTHING REVOLVE AROUND YOU?
That's the difference between building:
Income
and building:
Impact.
INCOME CAN END.
IMPACT CAN CONTINUE.
That's why leadership matters.
DON'T ONLY TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO MAKE MONEY
Teach:
Integrity.
Consistency.
Communication.
Leadership.
Service.
Financial responsibility.
THE PERSON IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE POSITION
Always.
REPUTATION AND LEGACY ARE NOT EXACTLY THE SAME
Reputation is often what people:
Think about you.
Legacy is what your life actually:
Leaves behind.
YOU CAN MANAGE A REPUTATION.
YOU HAVE TO LIVE A LEGACY.
Social media can create an:
Image.
Legacy requires:
Substance.
DON'T SPEND MORE TIME BUILDING YOUR BRAND THAN BUILDING YOUR CHARACTER
Your:
Logo.
Website.
Followers.
Views.
Likes.
None of those can replace:
Integrity.
BUILD THE PERSON BEHIND THE BRAND
That's the foundation.
GENEROSITY IS PART OF LEGACY
Generosity isn't only:
Money.
You can be generous with:
Time.
Knowledge.
Connections.
Encouragement.
Opportunity.
SOMETIMES ONE INTRODUCTION CHANGES SOMEBODY'S LIFE
One:
Recommendation.
Phone call.
Conversation.
Opportunity.
OPEN DOORS FOR OTHER PEOPLE
Especially once you've reached a place where you have the ability to:
Help.
SUCCESS BECOMES MORE MEANINGFUL WHEN YOU USE IT TO LIFT SOMEBODY ELSE
That's a different kind of:
Wealth.
FINANCIAL LEGACY STILL MATTERS
Let's not ignore:
Money.
Leaving financial resources can provide:
Security.
Education.
Opportunity.
Options.
BUT FINANCIAL LEGACY REQUIRES PLANNING
Depending on your situation, that may include discussing appropriate planning with qualified:
Estate attorneys.
Tax professionals.
Financial professionals.
KNOW WHAT YOU OWN
Know where important:
Documents
are located.
Know your:
Beneficiaries.
Know your:
Accounts.
DON'T LEAVE YOUR FAMILY A FINANCIAL SCAVENGER HUNT
Organize your:
Information.
That's an act of:
Love.
YOUR LEGACY SHOULD INCLUDE FINANCIAL WISDOM — NOT JUST FINANCIAL ASSETS
Teach why you made certain:
Decisions.
What worked.
What didn't.
TALK ABOUT MONEY BEFORE THERE'S A CRISIS
Many families don't.
Then when something happens...
nobody knows:
Anything.
LEGACY REQUIRES CONVERSATION
Don't assume everybody knows what you:
Want.
WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Write it:
Down.
What did you:
Believe?
What did you:
Value?
What lessons did life teach:
You?
CREATE A LEGACY JOURNAL
Imagine your children or grandchildren reading it years from:
Now.
What would you want them to:
Know?
WRITE ABOUT:
Your childhood.
Your parents.
Your faith.
Your career.
Your mistakes.
Your victories.
Your marriage.
Your family.
Your business experiences.
Your biggest lessons.
YOUR STORY MAY BECOME MORE VALUABLE AFTER YOU'RE NOT AVAILABLE TO TELL IT
Capture it:
Now.
RECORD VIDEOS TOO
Technology makes this easier than ever.
Record yourself telling:
Stories.
Lessons.
Family history.
Faith experiences.
LET FUTURE GENERATIONS HEAR YOUR VOICE
Imagine how valuable that could become.
CREATE FAMILY TRADITIONS
Legacy can live through:
Traditions.
Sunday:
Dinner.
Family prayer.
Annual trips.
Holiday traditions.
Celebrations.
TRADITIONS CREATE CONNECTION ACROSS GENERATIONS
They tell people:
“THIS IS WHO WE ARE.”
LEGACY IS ALSO WHAT YOU STOP
This is important.
Maybe you inherited:
Poor money habits.
Addiction.
Unhealthy communication.
Anger.
Family conflict.
NOT EVERYTHING PASSED DOWN NEEDS TO BE PASSED FORWARD
Sometimes your legacy is saying:
“IT STOPS WITH ME.”
That's powerful.
YOU CAN BECOME THE PERSON WHO CHANGES THE FAMILY PATTERN
Maybe nobody taught you about:
Money.
Teach your:
Children.
Maybe nobody prioritized:
Health.
You:
Start.
Maybe nobody talked openly about:
Faith.
You:
Do.
BREAKING A NEGATIVE CYCLE CAN BE A LEGACY
Sometimes the greatest inheritance you leave is something your family no longer has to:
Carry.
LEGACY IS BUILT THROUGH SMALL MOMENTS
We imagine legacy as something:
Huge.
A foundation.
A building named after:
You.
Millions of dollars.
MOST LEGACY IS BUILT IN ORDINARY MOMENTS
Showing:
Up.
Keeping your:
Word.
Listening.
Encouraging.
Apologizing.
Forgiving.
Teaching.
Loving.
SMALL ACTIONS REPEATED OVER DECADES BECOME A LIFE
And that life becomes your:
Legacy.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO LEAVE A GOOD LEGACY
Maybe your past includes things you:
Regret.
Welcome to being:
Human.
THE STORY ISN'T FINISHED
That's what matters.
YOU CAN CHANGE DIRECTION TODAY
Apologize.
Reconnect.
Start saving.
Start giving.
Start mentoring.
Start serving.
YOUR PAST MAY EXPLAIN PART OF YOUR STORY.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO WRITE THE ENDING.
That's one of the beautiful things about still being:
Here.
IF YOU'RE ALIVE, YOU'RE STILL WRITING
Another:
Page.
Another:
Chapter.
Another opportunity to make something:
Right.
AFTER 50, TIME BECOMES MORE VALUABLE
When you're:
25...
you may feel like time is:
Unlimited.
After 50...
you understand differently.
TIME IS YOUR MOST NONRENEWABLE RESOURCE
You can earn more:
Money.
You cannot earn more:
Yesterday.
SPEND TIME ACCORDINGLY
With people who:
Matter.
Doing things that:
Matter.
Building things that:
Matter.
STOP WASTING YEARS TRYING TO IMPRESS PEOPLE WHO AREN'T PART OF YOUR PURPOSE
That's expensive.
USE YOUR REMAINING YEARS INTENTIONALLY
Not fearfully.
Intentionally.
YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY YEARS YOU HAVE LEFT TO MAKE TODAY MATTER
That's the mindset.
TRY THE COACH MARCUS LEGACY FRAMEWORK
FAITH.
What do I want people to know about what I:
Believe?
FAMILY.
What values am I intentionally passing:
Down?
WISDOM.
What have I learned that someone else needs to:
Know?
SERVICE.
Who am I helping besides:
Myself?
WEALTH.
Am I building resources and financial understanding that can benefit others?
IMPACT.
Who is becoming better because I:
Lived?
FAITH → FAMILY → WISDOM → SERVICE → WEALTH → IMPACT
That's a legacy worth:
Building.
WRITE YOUR LEGACY STATEMENT
Finish this sentence:
“WHEN MY LIFE IS OVER, I WANT PEOPLE TO SAY...”
Don't rush.
Think about:
It.
Maybe:
“He loved God.”
“He loved his family.”
“He kept his word.”
“He helped people.”
“He gave people opportunities.”
“He encouraged others.”
“He lived what he believed.”
THEN ASK THE HARDER QUESTION:
“AM I LIVING THAT WAY RIGHT NOW?”
Because if the answer is:
No...
that's okay.
Now you know what needs to:
Change.
DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE END OF YOUR LIFE TO BECOME THE PERSON YOU WANT PEOPLE TO REMEMBER
Become that person:
Now.
CREATE YOUR LEGACY LIST
Write down five people you want to intentionally pour into over the next:
Year.
Then decide what each person needs from:
You.
Maybe:
Time.
Wisdom.
Encouragement.
Mentorship.
Opportunity.
LEGACY BECOMES REAL WHEN IT BECOMES SPECIFIC
Not:
“I want to help people.”
Who?
How?
When?
PUT NAMES TO YOUR PURPOSE
That's where action:
Begins.
FAITH • HEALTH • WEALTH • FREEDOM
These four pillars can become part of a powerful:
Legacy.
FAITH
gives the next generation a foundation bigger than:
Possessions.
HEALTH
models responsible stewardship of the body and the value of taking care of:
Yourself.
WEALTH
can create resources, education, opportunity and:
Options.
FREEDOM
can give you the ability to use your time according to what matters:
Most.
BUT NONE OF THEM SHOULD END WITH YOU
Pass down:
Faith.
Teach:
Health.
Transfer:
Financial wisdom.
Create opportunities for:
Freedom.
THAT'S GENERATIONAL IMPACT
And that's much bigger than simply having:
Success.
MYTHS VS. FACTS
Myth: Legacy is only about money.
Fact: Financial assets can be part of a legacy, but values, wisdom, faith, relationships, service and example can also have lasting impact.
Myth: You need to be famous to leave a legacy.
Fact: Legacy can be created within one family, team, church, neighborhood or relationship.
Myth: Legacy begins when you die.
Fact: You're building your legacy through how you live and influence people today.
Myth: Your past mistakes ruined your legacy.
Fact: Growth, accountability, changed behavior and the lessons you pass forward can become meaningful parts of your story.
Myth: Retirement means your contribution is mostly finished.
Fact: Later adulthood can provide opportunities for volunteering, mentoring, community involvement and purposeful activity. NIA notes that meaningful social and productive activities can support well-being as people age. NIA
Myth: Leaving money is enough.
Fact: Financial resources may be more useful when paired with financial education, organization and responsible planning.
Myth: Legacy requires one huge accomplishment.
Fact: Much of our impact is created through consistent everyday behavior over many years.
COACH MARCUS TAKEAWAYS
1. LEGACY IS BEING BUILT TODAY.
Don't wait until:
Tomorrow.
2. PASS DOWN MORE THAN MONEY.
Pass down:
Wisdom.
3. LIVE YOUR FAITH.
Your example can teach more than your:
Words.
4. INVEST IN PEOPLE.
Mentor somebody.
5. BUILD YOUR FAMILY.
Don't win publicly and lose:
Privately.
6. SERVE.
Your experience can help somebody:
Else.
7. ORGANIZE YOUR FINANCES.
Don't leave unnecessary:
Confusion.
8. SHARE YOUR STORY.
Your lessons have:
Value.
9. BREAK NEGATIVE CYCLES.
Not everything inherited needs to be:
Continued.
10. REMEMBER:
YOUR LEGACY ISN'T ONLY WHAT YOU LEAVE TO PEOPLE.
IT'S WHAT YOU LEAVE IN PEOPLE.
MY FINAL THOUGHT
One day...
somebody else will own most of the things you worked so hard to:
Acquire.
Someone else may live in your:
House.
Drive your:
Car.
Use your:
Furniture.
Your old job will have another:
Employee.
Your business position may have another:
Leader.
That's not:
Depressing.
That's:
Perspective.
Because it reminds us that maybe the greatest things we build aren't always the things we can:
Own.
Maybe they're the things we:
Transfer.
Faith.
Wisdom.
Character.
Opportunity.
Love.
Lessons.
Confidence.
Hope.
Maybe your greatest accomplishment won't be something with your name written:
On it.
Maybe it will be a person who says:
“I'M BETTER BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IN ME.”
Think about that.
Maybe someone:
Started a business...
because you encouraged:
Them.
Maybe someone took control of their:
Health...
because they watched:
You.
Maybe someone learned how to manage:
Money...
because you taught:
Them.
Maybe someone became a better:
Leader...
because you mentored:
Them.
Maybe someone strengthened their:
Faith...
because they saw how you lived:
Yours.
That's legacy.
And here's the beautiful:
Part.
You don't have to wait until you're:
Gone.
You can experience some of your legacy while you're still:
Here.
You can watch people:
Grow.
Win.
Change.
Become leaders.
Build families.
Strengthen their faith.
Improve their health.
Create opportunities.
And maybe that's one of the greatest rewards of getting:
Older.
At some point, success stops being only:
“How much can I accomplish?”
and becomes:
“HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I HELP BECOME BETTER?”
That's a different level of:
Success.
And perhaps that's why legacy matters more after:
You've had time to:
Learn.
Now you have time to:
Teach.
You've had time to:
Build.
Now you can help others:
Build.
You've had time to:
Make mistakes.
Now you can help someone avoid:
Them.
You've had time to discover what matters.
Now you can spend the rest of your life investing in:
It.
Don't wait until the final chapter to think about your:
Legacy.
Write it now.
With your:
Choices.
Character.
Faith.
Relationships.
Money.
Leadership.
Service.
Time.
And love.
Because one day your possessions will belong to somebody:
Else.
But the lives you touched?
The wisdom you shared?
The faith you modeled?
The people you developed?
Those things can continue moving through generations you may never:
Meet.
Psalm 78 captures that idea beautifully by emphasizing telling the next generation about God's works. Bible Gateway
That's generational:
Impact.
So ask yourself today:
“WHAT AM I BUILDING THAT CAN OUTLIVE ME?”
And then...
start building more of:
That.
Your story isn't:
Finished.
Your influence isn't:
Finished.
Your purpose isn't:
Finished.
You still have:
Wisdom to share.
People to help.
Relationships to strengthen.
Faith to demonstrate.
Resources to steward.
And lives to:
Touch.
Getting older is automatic.
Building a legacy is intentional.
DON'T JUST GET OLDER. GET BETTER AT IT.™

NEXT: DAY 77
How Do You Discover What You Want the Next 20 Years of Your Life to Look Like?
After 50...
the question isn't only:
“WHAT HAVE I DONE?”
There's another question:
“WHAT DO I WANT TO DO WITH THE TIME I STILL HAVE?”
Maybe you're:
And you realize...
you could potentially have:
Or more years ahead.
What do you want those years to:
Look like?
Where do you want to:
Live?
How do you want to:
Feel?
Who do you want around:
You?
What do you want your health to allow you to:
Do?
How much financial freedom do you want to:
Create?
What experiences do you still want to:
Have?
What work do you still want to:
Do?
Who do you want to:
Help?
Tomorrow we're going to stop treating the future like something that simply:
Happens.
And start thinking about how to intentionally:
Design it.
Because after 50...
you're not too old to create a:
Vision.
You may actually be old enough to finally know what matters enough to put in:
It.
